The Top Five Reasons to Have Your Car Professionally Detailed

Keep it Clean

We all like to have our homes clean and tidy and most of us would be horrified if a visitor arrived and the place looked like a bomb had hit it.  However some people seem quite happy to have any amount of litter, take-a-way wrappers and dirt in their car and offer that same person a lift.  A study found – * Tests around the handbrake area also found that there was an average of 200 living bacteria per square inch – including germs such as MRSA.”  That’s bad in anyone’s book.  Do yourself a favor and hire a professional who can use steam to clean carpets, upholstery and vinyl surfaces killing the bacteria.  Wet extraction and the use of chemicals is not as effective in removing stains as they tend to reappear after the area dries and the chemicals can also cause skin issues.

Paint Prorection

Paint is the ‘skin’ on the car, its job is to protect the metal from corrosion and offer a pleasing finish to look at.  Modern clear coats are thin, typically thinner than a ‘post-it-note’ they are harder than older single stage paint but mark easily.  Unless you have a machine polisher you will not effectively be able to polish out swirls and scratches from the clear coat.  A professionally trained detailer who is using quality products and equipment will be able to carry out multiple stage machine polishing on your clear coat and safely remove all below surface defects, preserving as much clear coat as possible.  It will then be necessary to protect the paint, chose a detailer who can apply a ceramic coating.  These coatings last longer, provide more protection and give a very glassy shine that will outlast traditional waxes and sealants.

To Improve Visibility

The UK winter can start anytime from October and last till well into May some years.  We are going to talk briefly about wet weather driving here as we get lots of rain some of it very heavy.  Improving wet weather visibility by day and night is a big plus point for all of us.  Request that your detailer apply a ceramic coating to your glass, as these coatings are extremely hydrophobic (they repel water) the water does not sit on your windscreen in a puddle but in droplets that the wind blows of when you are driving at speeds over 40 mph.  This also has the added benefit of extending the life of your wipers as you don’t need to use them as much.  These coatings are by far my favorite product to come to market in the last 10 years.

Protect Your Wheels

Alloy wheels are expensive to buy, fix and refurbish, so save yourself some hassle and get them detailed as well.  A detailer will clean them thoroughly removing any brake dust and tar with professional cleaning products you may never have heard of.  They can then be polished and coated to protect against brake dust that will pit and etch into the surface and destroy the finish.  Did I say that a ceramic coating also leaves your car easier to wash and keep clean?  The brake dust, road salt and grime will now be easier to wash off which in turn causes less harm to the paint.

To Protect Your Investment

A car is the second biggest purchase we will make in our life time and a clean well maintained car will be more attractive for a potential buyer when you decide to sell.  Who goes out of their way to buy a dirty scratched up car showing signs of neglect?  A professional detail will keep your car looking great for longer.
